To request Rays game duty, send email to the PYS Tropicana Coordinator (tropicana@pysmusic.org), indicating which game(s) you want to work, and how many adults (must be 18 or older) are available to work each game. The PYS Tropicana Coordinator(s) will try to make the concession assignments based on requests, the order in which they were received, and the need to team new volunteers with experienced volunteers.
Each volunteer must have read the PYS Guidelines for Tropicana Volunteers , have read and signed the Individual Volunteer Agreement, AND have supplied their photo ID number to the PYS Tropicana Coordinator prior to working a game.
To work a Rays game, you must wear:
- Khaki (tan) slacks
- A white undershirt (tee-shirt or sleeveless)
- Socks
- Closed-toe shoes
You will be loaned a pull-over Rays shirt to wear while on duty, which must be returned before you leave the stadium. You may also wear a cap bearing the new Rays logo (no other teams or organizations, also no old fishy logos for the team). CenterPlate takes the dress code seriously:
"It is important that the food and beverage service present a professional image at the Facility and to the patrons at the Facility. Therefore, the Charity is expected to insure that all the volunteers provided by it follow certain standards and guidelines in appearance, actions and attitude when dealing with the public. In the event any charity volunteer fails to comply with the dress code, the Charity will immediately cease making such volunteer available at the Facility. With that in mind, it is agreed that all volunteers will be in the proper uniform while on duty." (page 3 of the Contract for Non-Profit Groups)
You must arrive by the posted Report Time (see the schedule). Please allow time to park and walk to the entrance in order to be on time. Centerplate reserves the right to redistribute stand assignments when an organization does not have sufficient volunteers present on time.
It is important that you receive confirmation from the PYS Tropicana Coordinator before you travel to the stadium. Requesting a game does not guarantee that work is available for you. If you arrive without having been scheduled, you may be requested to return home.
If you have been scheduled but a conflict arises, it is important that you contact the PYS Tropicana Coordinator immediately so that we are not left short-handed (and forfeit the opportunity) and so that a wait-listed volunteer may be given the chance to participate.
Free Parking is available for volunteers (you) in Lot 3, which is
west of the dome (see image below, which was pilfered from
http://tampabay.rays.mlb.com/tb/ballpark/parking_directions.jsp). Tell
the parking attendant you are a volunteer.

Enter at Gate 6, which is at the northwest corner of the stadium. There is a sign in table where, unless you previously turned it in to the PYS Tropicana Coordinator during our planning meeting, you will turn in your Individual Volunteer Agreement form (you DID remember to bring it, didn't you?) and sign in. Be sure to sign in on the Pinellas Youth Symphony page and get a volunteer wristband. Then walk up the ramp to enter the building and proceed to the booth to which you have been assigned.
